Trip Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary of what we may do on your tour. We completely coordinate the events, meal options, transportation, tickets, etc. Many of the places we will be taking you are places we have been ourselves including restaurants, attractions, and izakaya’s. We will be walking a lot and using the train. For more lengthy excursions, we will provide a private driver. Flexibility is key as we may have to move things around due to weather and to ensure that you will have time to explore on your own.

July 28
After your arrival in Tokyo, we will meet and greet you at the airport, provide transportation to the hotel, and then take you out to Shibuya, an eclectic district of Tokyo!
July 29
We visit Senso-ji temple today in Asakusa, a place full of traditional Japanese culture. We take the Sumida river cruise to the first Olympic event.
Olympic Event
July 30
Off to Harajuku today heading to Takeshita Dori street for street fashion and themed cafes. Afterwards, we visit Meiji-jingu shrine (my favorite!) on a leisurely walk, and then perhaps we squeeze in a visit to Yoyogi park.
Olympic Event
July 31
Starting off the day to take in the best view of the city, then we go to Akihabara (Akiba): home to anime, manga, and gaming.
A traditional multi-course kaiseki Japanese dinner is on the agenda tonight. (You will love it!!!)
August 1
Olympic event or we take a train to Odaiba to see this man-made peninsula on the Tokyo Bay, full of modern-day attractions topping off your amazing experience in Shibuya tonight!
August 2
Olympic event before heading to the airport to complete your bucket-list experience! Transportation is provided.

Reviews

Being a first-timer in Japan, I didn’t know the ‘lay of the land,’ much less the culture and language of the Japanese people. I have been on tours before, but they were large groups with typical cookie-cutter touristy agendas on what to see and do, those were ok.

Tokyo Escapes was different. Having someone like Mica who could speak the language and understood all nuances and current trends of the culture (as well as how to navigate the public transportation system) tailoring that knowledge-base with MY interests made a HUGE difference. It was more than a tour for me…it was an eye-opening cultural experience. Mica made it that way! Fantastic, unique tour tailored to your interests. Put Tokyo Escapes on your bucket list. You will not regret it.
